We are constantly talking to clients about why they should photograph their family now instead of waiting for the "Perfect Time". In 2018 we shared a blog post with several reasons why NOW is always the best time to photograph your family. (Click here to read that blog post.) While those reasons are still true today, 2020 has created a different set of challenges when deciding if 'now' is a good time to be photographed.

The reality is that school is only 6-8 weeks away and it is ALWAYS a busy time for families. While pushing it off may seem like a good idea the reality is that things will only get busier, especially with all the unknowns we might deal with for the remainder of this year.

Here is why we would encourage you to take time to photograph your family this summer:

1. Vacations have been put on hold.

We imagine for many of you vacations have either been postponed or put on hold for the time being. Normally the summer is a whirlwind of camps and trips before school begins. However, this year has given us the gift of time. More time together. More time at home. The perfect time to schedule a sitting when you have less on your schedule to work around.

2. Family dynamics change.

This is always true but especially important now. Family dynamics can change for a variety of reasons. Each year brings new changes both good and bad. Don't hold off for the 'perfect' time. The 'perfect' time doesn't exist. Instead capture this moment in time so it can be remembered forever.

3. The simple things mean the most.

In chaotic times (like the one we are experiencing now) it is important for our children to feel safe and have a sense of control. Children enjoy seeing themselves with their family. It boosts their self-confidence and sense of belonging. Hanging a portrait in your home will remind them every day how loved and cherished they are. It's something so simple to do and more important than ever.

4. Things will only get busier.

Every year we hear it - "we are just too busy". It might feel like you are too busy to take the time to photograph your family, but the reality of it is that it will only get busier. As things reopen and we all get back to a more normal routine you will only be adding more things to your schedule. We are also very efficient and we only need 45 minutes of your family's time to do a sitting.

5. Add something positive

This year will be one we remember for the rest of our lives and we are all experiencing these challenges in different ways. Taking the time to photograph your family is a great way to add a positive experience and memory to this crazy year.

We are doing everything we can to keep our clients safe during this time. We have also written a blog about it. (Click here to read more.) We encourage you to reach out to us with any questions you have about photographing your family. We are here to help!

Photographing your family has never been easier and we guarantee you've never had a portrait experience like this before!

While we understand this is a challenging time, we also know that children have not stopped growing and they are only this age for a little while. While things have slowed down during this time and families are together more, we encourage you to create a family portrait that you will treasure forever.

As we return to work and businesses start reopening we understand that things are not the same as they once were. We all have new concerns and challenges to overcome. We wanted to share with you the ways we are ensuring our clients safety.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available to everyone who visits Strauss Peyton.

  • We will be cleaning surfaces multiple times a day and between each appointment.

  • We will only be scheduling one appointment at a time to limit the number of people in the studio and ensure proper distance and cleaning measures can be maintained.

  • We will be scheduling everything by appointment only. Including portrait deliveries and pick-ups.

  • We are able to provide a contactless pick up. To do this please call the office at 314-997-8966 to schedule.

  • The day before your sitting we will touch base with you to make sure everyone is healthy. We will be happy to reschedule anyone who feels they need to for any health concerns.

Our number one priority during this time is the health and safety of our clients. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call us at 314-997-8966. We will be happy to work with you to ensure you feel safe when visiting our studio.

While our studio on Lindbergh focuses on creating portraits for families, another passion of Colin’s is landscape photography. Colin takes his camera everywhere he goes. Throughout his travels all across the country and around the world he has captured the beauty and uniqueness of each location. His hope is that each image will spark curiosity and take viewers to where he has been.

In March of 2019 we launched our Etsy Shop: Strauss Peyton Images as a way to share Colin’s passion for landscape photography. The photographs are available to be printed on traditional canvas or modern metal. Each piece comes framed and ready to hang in your home or office.

We've recently been using these images with quotes to share some Inspirational Photographic Art on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
